Who We Are

Exist as a church "to make disciples" for Jesus, the Christ.
Matthew 28:19-20

"To present every member complete in Christ"
Colossians 1:28

This vision is contextualized in our Mission and Strategy Statements. We exist as a congregation to "Make disciples for Jesus, the Christ".

And we will accomplish this mission by...

"Marking, Maturing, and Multiplying disciples, leading them to Magnify the Lord and to Minister in the Church community."

This vision is about developing people toward spiritual maturity. It is the ultimate vision for the church. We must start at the ultimate vision in order to guide the secondary visions. All secondary visions for the church must be driven by this overarching vision - "Presenting every man complete (mature) in Christ." A vision to expand our facility, establish a counseling center, develop and accredited Bible college, and a strong focus on ministering to the family must be driven by "presenting every member complete in Christ".

It is necessary that the vision grow out of God's purpose for His church.

In Proverbs is said that "Where there is no revelation (vision) the people cast off restraint; but happy is he who keeps the law."
Proverbs 29:18 NKJV

This verse is not concerned with the importance of casting a vision. It is mostly concerned with understanding the word of God in order for one's life to be manageable. The caster of the vision must not be the creator of the vision. The vision ought to grow out of God's revelation and His revelation is in His Word. If the church is to be the church of Jesus Christ, the vision of the church must be anchored in Christ's purpose for His church.

Therefore, we must constantly ask ourselves, "why does the church exist?". And we must seek the answer in the scripture and no where else. We must not be driven by social relevancy at the expense of Divine revelation. Our picture of the future of Mt. Zion must be grounded in Christ's historical purpose for the church.
